Liddy Scheffknecht
Installation made in Nida (Lithuania), sunlight, earth rotation, black masking tape, chair
Austria 2011
In this series of works Liddy Scheffknecht uses sunlight as a sculptural material. Incident light casts a shadow into the room shaped by a silhouette attached to the window. This results in an immaterial image of light, which moves through the room, propelled by the Earth’s rotation, and changes its shape, size, and proportion. At one particular moment during the day the sculpted light correlates with an object, in this case a chair in the room. What emerges is an illusion of unity between the object and the projection of light and shadow. (Isin Önol)
