Self-Portrait is a mechanism based on the essential idea of motion and time-based art. It is an object made out of simple everyday objects such as a metal bucket, an ordinary lamp, magnifiers, rope, and paper cups. When the audience moves the rope up and down and the lamp starts pendulating, the object transforms into an audiovisual instrument, which animates a figure that interacts with its social environment.
Anna Vasof, born 1985 in Greece, lives and works in Vienna, Austria.
