02/19 // RESET THE APPARATUS! A Survey of the Photographic and the Filmic in Contemporary Art // The project ends

The arts-based FWF/PEEK research project RESET THE APPARATUS! A Survey of the Photographic and the Filmic in Contemporary Art (2016—2019) has come to an end. We would like to thank everyone who has supported us over the last three years and who made this project possible.

You can order our final publication here (published by De Gruyter, Edition Angewandte). It features, among others, collaborative contributions by artists and scholars, as well as a selection of artworks from the CORPUS. Using the example of artists’ practices that are motivated by the idea of the photographic and/or the cinematic but do not necessarily lead to photographs or films, the book shows how, in multiple ways, the display tool—the apparatus—can be explored, taken apart, reflected, modified, and newly arranged.

We hope you will enjoy this book as much as we did creating it.

The gallery Photo Edition Berlin presents from April 22 to June 17, 2017 the exhibition of Edgar Lissel "Ruptures in the cinema of the mind", with new works from the years 2011 - 2017 as well as earlier series. Our project partners Sandra Gibson and Luis Recoder are participating in this year's AIR "Artist in Residence Niederösterreich", a multi-disciplinary program for architects, visual artists, musicians and writers.

They will be living and working in Krems, Lower Austria, from April until June 2017.
